All Broward Schools On Code Yellow For Precautionary Measures

All high schools in Broward are on Code Yellow for precautionary measures.

According to various definitions, a code yellow is a "...situation in which students need to stay in their rooms with their teachers. Normal classroom activity continues. Often a code yellow is an incident that happens in the school office area. Students and staff remain in a code yellowuntil an “all clear” or additional instructions are given."

There are no threats at this time, according to authorities with the Davie Police Department.

Earlier Thursday morning, police conducted a search of a Broward preparatory school after a teacher said she heard a gun shot.

According to Coconut Creek Police, a teacher sent a text message to somebody off-campus saying she heard a shot fired at North Broward Preparatory School, located at 7600 Lyons Road.

In an abundance of caution, police went room to room conducting a search and placed the school on lockdown. Police have since lifted the lockdown and classified this as a false alarm.

Law enforcement presence has increased on campuses across the country. Expect to see more police at dismissal.
