A teen has died after being struck by a car while walking to a school bus stop in Davie.
The mother of 16-year-old Melani Rivera posted a message on Facebook confirming her daughter passed away Monday from her injuries suffered in the Thursday crash along Nova Drive.
Rivera was reportedly attempting to cross the street when she was struck by a Jeep Compass driven by 100-year-old Rosamond Preseau – an impact that sent the teen into a golf cart crossing nearby.
She was rushed to Broward General Hospital with a traumatic head injury and spent several days in the ICU before passing away.
Preseau stayed on the scene and no charges have been filled in the case.
A GoFundMe account has been set up to help Rivera’s family with funeral costs and medical bills.
