Amazingly, no one was injured when a runaway SUV sped through two Treasure Coast counties.
The Florida Highway Patrol says 28-year-old Joseph Daniel Cooper of Palm Coast called 911 Monday afternoon to report he was going about 100 miles an hour northbound on Interstate 95 near County Road 713 in Martin County.
Cooper said the gas pedal on his 2003 BMW X5 was stuck.
Troopers fled to the scene, got in front of and behind the SUV, blocked off I-95 entrance ramps, and deployed stop sticks three times until the vehicle finally came to a halt 50 miles north near County Road 512 in Indian River County.
