Man Arrested In Connection To Fatal Shooting Near South Beach Karaoke Bar

A suspect has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a man in South Beach last month.

Jeremiah Dorvilus is accused of shooting and killing 29-year-old Kamil Patel on Jan. 25th in an alley near the Kill Your Idol karaoke bar.

Authorities say Patel and a friend were walking near the establishment when a gunman got out of the passenger side of a Honda Accord and killed Patel.

Katy Park, girlfriend of Patel who witnessed the shooting, said Patel was killed just hours after picking her up from the airport.

"That’s when time stopped. A small African American male got out of the passenger side of a white car pointing a gun at us," Park said.  "He fired two shots that hit Kamil in the left shoulder and abdomen, then got back in the car and disappeared. I am alive because Kamil protected me. He didn't hesitate. His last words were “Katy, keep walking.”

Dorvilus was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center early Thursday on a charge of first-degree murder.

Police are still searching for a second suspect. Miami Beach police say 32-year-old Tyrone Jackson is wanted in connection to the murder.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911 of Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477).
