Reward For Info Leading To Arrest In South Beach Murder Increases To $20K

The reward for info leading to the arrest of the person who shot and killed a 29-year-old man in South Beach has been increased.

Miami Beach Police said Wednesday that the victim’s family and Mango’s Cafe have contributed to the combined reward for information leading to the person responsible for killing Kamil Patel.

The total reward now stands at $20,000.

Police are investigating after they found a white Honda at Northwest 12th Avenue on Tuesday that was spotted on cameras leaving the scene of Patel’s murder.

The Honda belongs to 54-year-old Orestes Marrero, who had been initially reported missing by his family.

However, Miami-Dade Police said, Marrero has since contacted his family and spoke with them. He is now also cooperating in the investigation.

Authorities did take an unnamed subject into custody for questioning on Tuesday but added that he has since been released.

Now, as police investigate Patel’s murder, residents who held a vigil for him, Tuesday, hope that something soon will change.

If you have any information that can help police, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for the $20,000 reward.
