Airbnb: We're Opening Doors, Not Building Walls

Ahead of President Donald Trump's first State of The Union Address Tuesday night, home-renting service seems to be sending him a message: "We're opening doors, not building walls."

Earlier this month, Airbnb expanded its listings globally, in:

  • Haiti
  • El Salvador
  • Africa

"Our mission [is] to create a world where anyone can belong anywhere," the company said in a statement Tuesday. "We are proud of the fact that Airbnb hosts in Haiti, El Salvador, and Africa earned a total of $170 million last year by sharing their homes with travelers. In fact, these areas are now home to over 116,000 Airbnb listings, and our community continues to grow every day.

"As world leaders engage in dialogue that is antithetical to our mission statement, we will continue to advocate for policies that open the world and bring us closer together."
