FBI Director Andrew McCabe Stepping Down, Sources Say

FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe is reportedly stepping down, effective Monday.

Multiple sources are reporting that McCabe will remain on the FBI payroll on "terminal leave" until he is eligible to retire with full benefits mid-March.

McCabe, who acted as interim director of the bureau after James Comey was fired, had been beset by attacks over alleged anti-Trump bias in the agency, including from the president.

Trump tweeted in December, "How can FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, the man in charge, along with leakin' James Comey, of the Phony Hillary Clinton investigation (including her 33,000 illegally deleted emails) be given $700,000 for wife's campaign by Clinton Puppets during investigation?"

The deputy director's exit comes more than a week after it was reported President Donald Trump wanted McCabe out of the FBI.

It was also reported last week that the president had asked McCabe who he had voted for in the 2016 election.
