Tracking Trumpy's Approval For Jan. 26

Let's track the high point, low point and current ratings for President Donald Trump...

  • Trump's lowest ratings:

    • 37% approval

    • 59% disapproval

    • Total: -22% (8/4/17)

  • Trump highest approval ratingsL

    • 45% approval

    • 43% disapproval

    • Total: +2% (1/27/17)

  • Trump's current ratings:

    • 41% approval

    • 56% disapproval

    • Total: -15%

On the surface the President's net approval rating looks flat (his approval and disapproval rating are both up a point this week) but that's not at all telling the full story. The divide between the most informed and engaged compared to the least informed and least engaged remains the major and growing story.

As I've been tracking for several months now...The more likely someone is to vote, the higher the President's overall approval rating.

  • With adult only samples his rating over the past week averaged: 37%

  • Registered voters: 43%

  • Likely voters: 44%

That's a significant story - especially as we're entering the mid-term election cycle. The more informed/engaged you are politically, the more likely you are to approve of the president's performance and now the divide between the average adult and only somewhat engaged is significant. It also demonstrates that the most informed adults weren't persuaded by the tale tales in Wolff's book, weren't moved by s-hole gate and didn't blame President Trump for the partial government shutdown.

As indicated on Wednesday, Democrats actually suffered a 3.4% decline on the generic ballot week over week and were the ones who "lost" the shutdown in the eyes of Americans.

The range was Fox News –8% to Gallup -23%
