Trangender Florida Student Suing School Board For Discrimination

A transgender student is suing the Volusia County School Board, claiming they are being treated unfairly on school grounds.

According to the lawsuit, the child involved is a 15-year-old sophomore.  He was born female, but transitioned into a male starting in the second grade.

The now-15-year-old claims the district's anti-discrimination policy has caused unnecessary mental distress, embarrassment and suffering.

The student is upset about having to use separate bathrooms and locker rooms at school.

The lawsuit also states that gym class is a big issue for this student, claiming the student has been directed to take gym classes online and change in a separate building.

The school district would not comment on the lawsuit for now.
