Woman Who Ran Over South Dade Principal In DUI Crash Sentenced To Prison

A woman who pleaded guilty to a 2016 DUI crash that severely injured a South Florida high school principal will serve five years behind bars after accepting a plea deal Friday.

Marilyn Aguilera pleaded guilty to DUI causing serious bodily injury after running over South Dade High School principal Javier Perez at a West Miami Dade baseball field.

Perezl lost both of his legs after being in a coma.

After five years in state prison, Aguilera will serve 3 years of probation and must complete 200 hours of community service as part of the plea deal. 

She also must attend substance abuse counseling.
