Apple Now Wants To Help Your Phone Last Longer

Apple is taking the wraps off a new iPhone feature designed to lengthen the life of older handsets.

CEO Tim Cook showed off the new function Wednesday. It will let owners of iPhones with depleted batteries disable built-in CPU throttling.

The move is in response to Apple's admission last month that a 2016 update slowed down older iPhones to extend battery life.

The company came under fire for not telling iPhone owners what it did to their devices.
