People at Sawgrass Mills thought they heard shots fired. Sunrise Police say it was actually a staged distraction by a pair of thieves. One thowing in a string of lit fireworks at a Zales Jewelry Store, causing panic, while another made off with an $11,000 Rolex watch. Similar scares have played out at Westland, the Dolphin Mall, and at Aventura, false reports of shots fired started to spread on social media. Aventura Police are warning social media users about what they read online. Sunrise Police still have a lot of surveillance video yet to go through.
