Company To Close Most Of Its Medical Marijuana Clinics In Florida

A company is blaming state oversight for its decision to close all but one of the medical marijuana clinics it opened in Florida earlier this year.

California-based Tetra Health Care says its Tampa location will stay open while clinics in Clearwater, Brandon and Winter Park will be shut down. Those clinics were all only opened earlier this year.

Tetra released a statement citing legislative actions that it says have changed qualifying conditions and the state's delay in issuing medical cards to patients.

Company spokesperson Tanya Ceilo said, "Between the legislative actions that have changed qualifying conditions to the state's delay in issuing medical cards to patients, medical providers like Tetra Health Care are facing serious roadblocks to providing compassionate patient care."

Tetra Health Care said it may open clinics in the future in Florida, but right now, the company plans to focus its attention on Florida legislators and improving patient access.
