Report Analyze Police Response To Pulse Nightclub Shooting Massacre

Federal authorities are giving a generally positive review to the actions of first responders at the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando.

The attack on June 12th of last year left 49 people dead and 68 wounded.

A 200-page report from the Justice Department gave high marks for the first responders' training, the speed with which rescues were carried out, and the social media structure that kept the public aware of developments both during and after the shooting.

The report, which was requested by Orlando's police chief, concluded that the response by that city's police department was "consistent with national best practices and under extremely volatile and difficult circumstances."

On the downside, the report criticized the officers' rush to show up at the scene without having their roles and responsibilities clearly defined.

The report calls for more training to better prepare local first responders for escalating terror attacks.
