Two Miami Men Accused Of Installing Skimming Devices At NoFL Gas Stations

Two Miami men are accused of installing skimming devices at three Sarasota gas stations, deputies said.

Sarasota County Sheriff's Office deputies first discovered the skimming devices early Wednesday after a citizen called 911 to report seeing a suspicious Chevrolet Camaro parked at a closed Sunoco gas station.

Deputies arrived as the car was leaving and followed it before conducting a traffic stop.

Deputies found two skimming devices, cordless drills and a set of keys used to open the gas pumps during a search of the car.

The driver, Michel Varona-Saavedra, and passenger, Yoandy Perez-Del Prado, were arrested at the scene.

Investigators later found skimming devices at a Citgo and 7-Eleven in addition to the one at the Sunoco. They said they also found Varona-Saavedra in possession of five counterfeit credit cards.

Varona-Saavedra and Perez-Del Prado were arrested on multiple charges.
