Net Neutrality Protests Scheduled To Begin At Verizon Stores

Verizon stores may be a bit crowded Thursday afternoon... with demonstrators fighting for an unbiased internet.

The new chair of the Federal Communications Commission is planning to roll back Obama-era net-neutrality rules which prevent cable and wireless companies from favoring select website and apps.

Protesters across the nation chose Verizon stores because FCC Chairman Ajit Pai was associate general counsel at the company between 2001 and 2003.

Verizon has been a longtime opponent of net neutrality rules, having filed the lawsuit that led to a previous version of the rules being thrown out by a judge.

The protest organizers are advocacy groups Fight for the Future, Demand Progress, and Free Press Action Fund.
