The man who's currently in charge of Walt Disney World and the rest of Disney's theme-park division could soon be running the entire company.
Bloomberg is reporting that Bob Chapek is emerging as the likely successor to Disney CEO Bob Iger, who is scheduled to retire in 2019.
Chapek's recent successes include "Pandora-The World of Avatar" at Disney's Animal Kingdom in Orlando.
And, in fiscal year-end results announced earlier this month, his parks and resorts division was the only major Disney division to post an increase in sales and profit.
Since taking over the theme-park division in 015, Chapek ensured the Shanghai resort, Disney’s largest foreign investment, turned a profit in its first year of operation. He also guided the openings of the “Avatar”-themed attraction in Orlando, and a “Guardians of the Galaxy” ride in Anaheim, California.
Investors are likely to find out in the coming months whether Chapek will become Iger's successor.
