Man Accused Of Beating, Killing Ollie The Pit Bull Appears In Court

The man who Hollywood Police Department detectives believe beat, stabbed and trapped a pit bull named Ollie inside a blue suitcase was behind bars Wednesday.

Brendan Evans, 31, faced a Broward County Court judge Thursday.

The judge issued charges of animal cruelty and set Evans' bond at $100,000 dollars. Prosecutors had originally asked for a $50,000 dollar bond.

Police officers said he had claimed to be a voodoo priest and said that he believed it was his religious right to kill a duck if he wanted to.

In his refrigerator, Hollywood detectives allegedly found scalped rats, cat paws and blood. There was allegedly also an 8-pointed star on a kitchen wall, and a shrine with candles for the "Duke of Hell." He had a Crime Stoppers' flyer showing a picture of Ollie ripped in two.

A Facebook account listed Evans as being from Fairfax, Virginia. The account's last public posts were from 2014.

A Feb. 12, 2014 post: "It is 100 percent worth it to live in a lawless land of degenerates and vice in order to avoid winter."
