John Morgan Announces He Will Not Seek Bid For Governor

John Morgan announced Friday that he will not seek the Democratic party's nomination for Florida governor in 2018. 

Morgan, an advocate for marijuana legalization and Orlando personal injury attorney, announced his lack of planned candidacy via Twitter. 

Morgan told the Orlando Sentinel he was "a long way" from running as an independent.   

The list of potential Democratic candidates includes: 

  • Former Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine 
  • U.S. Rep. Gwen Graham
  • Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum 
  • Winter Park businessman Chris King

The list of potential Republican candidates includes:

  • Rep. Ron DeSantis
  • Sen. Jack Latvala 
  • Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam
  • House Speaker Richard Corcoran

Rick Scott's second term will end in January 2019.
