Early Morning Crash Involving Three Teens In Miami-Dade Turns Fatal

An early morning crash on a Miami-Dade roadway turned fatal Wednesday morning.

Florida Highway Patrol says a BMW was traveling eastbound on State Road 112 before NW 27th Avenue around 3 a.m. when it hit the inside guardrail, with part of that rail piercing the vehicle.

Three teens were inside the BMW, FHP says.

The driver of the vehicle was killed at the scene while the front seat passenger had to have his arm amputated before being rushed to Ryder Trauma Center.

A third person suffered only minor bruising. That person was able to go home from the scene of the crash.

Authorities say speed played a role in the crash, but their investigation continues.

Troopers say that the roadway, commonly known as the Airport Expressway allowing travelers to get from I-95 to Miami International Airport, will be closed for most of the morning due to that investigation and clean-up.
