Man Wanted In Connection To Shooting Of Pregnant Woman Who Lost Baby

Miami-Dade police are searching for a man they said shot a pregnant woman early this month.

Doctors were forced to deliver Heidy Bowen's daughter early because of sustained injuries, but the baby died Wednesday at just 12-days-old, according to authorities.

Detectives say 28-year-old Wayne Collier shot Bowen the morning of Nov. 3 outside a home on Northwest 49th Street near Northwest 19th Avenue.

Police found out about the shooting about 5:15 a.m. through the Shot Spotter system, a microphone that detects the sound of gunfire in high-crime areas and tells police the location.

Police said Bowen knew Collier, but the nature of their relationship wasn't immediately clear.

Collier faces charges of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
