A 4-year-old girl is dead after a car crash that happened Tuesday night when she was not strapped into a car seat.
Reports say the car she was riding in crashed into a utility pole while trying to make a U-turn in front of oncoming vehicles near Lauderhill.
Broward Sheriff's officials say the 2013 Volkswagen Jetta carrying Majesty Folson turned into the path of a Nissan Pathfinder, which couldn't avoid the crash.
It hit the passenger side of the Jetta, sending it into the utility pole.
All four people in the Jetta were critically injured. The toddler later died of her injuries.
Sheriff's officials say no one was wearing a seat belt and that a car seat wasn't found.
An investigation continues.
