Update: Police Identify Girl's Body Found In Miami-Dade Dumpster

UPDATE 11-6-2017 at 10:55 a.m.

Police have identified the body of a girl found in a southwest Miami-Dade dumpster Sunday as 4-year-old Tania Paige.

According to an arrest report, 31-year-old Tina Farrington was at her home on Halloween night with Tania and another child when she became upset after hearing Tania talk back to her.

Farrington allegedly lured the girl and her brother to a bedroom where she used a pillow to suffocate her until she was unresponsive and not breathing.

Farrington put the girl's body in the trunk of her car and kept the body there for several days until she noticed a foul odor, the report said.

On Sunday, she put the remains in the dumpster, the report said.

A Florida mother was arrested Sunday after the body of her young daughter was found in a southwest Miami-Dade dumpster.

Miami-Dade Police have charged 31-year-old Tina Farrington with first degree murder.

A man who lives nearby was allegedly dumping his trash when he found the body. Police said the discovery was made around 12:45 p.m. when they responded to the scene at the Tuscany Place Apartments at 25430 SW 137th Avenue.

The body is believed to be of an African-American girl between 3 and 8 years old. Police have not confirmed the identity of the child.

The man, Alan Tapia, said he lifted the lid on one side of the dumpster and was making room for his trash when he saw feet sticking out of a blanket.

Police said no parent has come forward to claim the child.

"They're following all leads they have at the moment and we're not going to leave any stone unturned," Det. Argemis Colome said.
