The Miami Rescue Mission is asking for the public's help in collecting food items to assist the local homeless population.
The Pack the Pantry Food Drive is aiming to provide 250,000 meals this fall to those in need.
"During these uncertain economic times, we need your help more than ever to serve the hungry and homeless of South Florida. During the fall, our Centers in South Florida are having the Pack the Pantry Food Drive campaign," Miami Rescue Mission said. "We want to raise enough food to help us feed nearly 250,000 meals to the hungry and homeless of our communities."
Three drop off centers are available to the public:
Hollywood location

Those with large quantity donations can also schedule a pick up.
Items in demand include:
- Canned vegetables
- Cereal
- Canned meat
- Instant potatoes
- Coffee
- Rice
- Dry milk
- Sugar
- Ketchup, mustard, and other condiments
- Stuffing mix
- Other nonperishable items
