Gov. Scott To Address Lake O Concerns, Funding

Governor Rick Scott is expected to talk funding regarding a dike at Lake Okeechobee at a press conference Monday.

has everyone on edge after recent storms in the area.

Scott will be in Clewiston to discuss repairs to the 80-year-old Herbert Hoover Dike.

Just last week, Trump promised Lake O repairs would be sped up over fears of a possible breach in the future.

The body of water has kept many on edge following Hurricane Irma. Lake Okeechobee's water level is currently just over 17 feet.

The Army Corps of Engineers has said that repairs should be done by 2025.

Scott, and Trump, however, has said that they want them done by 2022, which would require an additional $200 million yearly for the project.
