Investigators say 30-year-old Joselyn Lopez was driving a Dodge Challenger at 75 mph on a 45 mph speed limit stretch of State Road 7 near Wiles Road on Aug. 20, 2016.

That's when she crashed into the 1995 Jeep Wrangler that Detective Christoper Sheehan was driving, according to an arrest report.

Sheehan, 30, died at the crash scene. His passenger, Fort Lauderdale Fire-Rescue Capt. Jacob Snowhite, was hospitalized with injuries.

According to the arrest report, Lopez had a blood alcohol level of .08, which is Florida’s legal limit, a little more than two hours after the 2:30 a.m. crash.

Lopez was driving “in a reckless manner” and, at the time of the crash “was impaired beyond normal faculties, which contributed to the crash,” the arrest report said.

Lopez was arrested Thursday and is facing charges that include DUI manslaughter, reckless driving and causing serious bodily injury.
