Fort Myers Spends $130K To Investigate City Attorney

An investigation into a Fort Myers city attorney has turned out to be a lot more expensive than originally thought.

City Attorney Grant Alley announced his leave of absence Aug. 7, citing complaints by colleagues about his “aggressive” behavior. He took accrued leave to protect the integrity of the investigation.

The initial plan was to spend $30,000 looking into the complaints, but the Fort Myers News Press is reporting the price tag has quadrupled to $130,000.

Council members were surprised but went along with a staff recommendation and okayed the extra hundred-grand to cover the cost of the Alley investigation.
