Woman Pleads Guilty To Leaving Scene Of DUI Accident Involving Officers

A Miami woman entered a guilty plea Thursday to crashing into two federal agents in Miami Beach and then leaving the scene in January 2016.

Jordana Rosales, 23, pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of a crash involving death and reckless driving involving serious injuries.

Two related DUI manslaughter charges were dropped as part of her plea agreement with the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office.

She faces anywhere between a 13.5 to 50 year sentence if the judge follows the prosecutors' guidelines, however, the judge may sentence Rosales to as little as four years in prison.

The crash was reported just after 2 a.m. Jan. 15, 2016, on Collins Avenue near Espanola Way.

Two U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents were flagging down a taxi and speaking with the driver when Rosales made a U-turn, noticed the stopped taxi and swerved towards the curb to avoid it, striking the two officers.

Rosales fled the scene after the crash, authorities said.

One of the agents suffered a broken leg and the other, Scott McGuire, died at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

According to police reports, Rosales’ fate was sealed one month after the crash when, after initially lying to detectives, she admitted to drinking before plowing into the two agents.

Rosales is expected to be sentenced at the end of November.
