FHP: Trooper Injured In DUI Crash Into Police Cruiser

A suspected drunk driver rear-ended a Florida Highway Patrol trooper's cruiser early Tuesday in a construction zone on a stretch of Florida highway in Orlando.

Thirty-two-year-old Trooper Tarik Dalhy was parked in the closed lane of the highway with his cruiser lights on to alert drivers of the construction zone.

Jetzel Jadiel Ortiz Freytes, 25, plowed through several traffic cones before rear-ending the cruiser. Dalhy had to kick the door open to get out of the vehicle.

She said he's being treated for a bruised lung.

An arrest affidavit says Ortiz Freytes had bloodshot eyes and smelled like alcohol. He also failed a field sobriety test and blew a .120, according to the affidavit.

He failed a field sobriety test and was arrested on a DUI charge.
