An elderly woman and her tenant are dead as the result of a fire inside a Deerfield Beach mobile home Saturday night, police said.
Crews discovered the victims’ bodies early Sunday, inside the trailer at a mobile park near Northwest Fifth Street and Military Drive.
First responders were forced to break into the trailer home to put out the flames, but it was too late to save the two individuals inside.
One of the victims has been identified as 84-year-old Dorothy Stevens. The other victim was a 66-year-old man, authorities say.
Neighbors said the male victim was renting a room from Stevens.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
