A Lighthouse Point man was arrested after police say he shot his roommate in the face.
George Selimos, 54, now faces charges of attempted murder, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and violation of probation.
The victim told police he returned home and was unloading groceries Monday when he heard a loud bang and felt a burning on his right cheek.
The victim turned around and allegedly saw Selimos facing him, standing with arms extended in a shooting stance.
Selimos told his roommate that a flare exploded in his hands and that a piece of shrapnel struck the victim in his face, authorities said.
Police responded to the scene and found no evidence of an exploding flare.
After obtaining a search warrant, police found a gun in the suspect's bedroom closet, along with a loaded magazine.
