A man in Palm Beach County has been arrested after jumping into a canal and attempting to flee the scene of a crash, a Boca Raton police report.
The unidentified man was arrested around 10 a.m. Tuesday, on the 700 block of West Palmetto Park Road, between Interstate 95 and Dixie Highway.
According to police, he was involved in a hit-and-run crash shortly after 8 a.m.
The man was driving a red Ford truck that hit a parked white Ford Flex, authorities say. He allegedly pleaded with the driver of the Ford Flex SUV not to call police before he took off and ran, Desir said.
The man swam across a canal and then ran north in an attempt to flee. He was apprehended.
According to authorities, there were no injuries.
