A woman was fatally struck by a semi-trailer Monday morning as she walked toward her job's entrance.
The incident was reported just before 9 a.m. at Seabra Foods on Sample Road in Deerfield Beach.
Broward Sheriff's Office deputies said the driver, identified as 34-year-old Yunior Pichardo, of Lauderhill, was backing into the loading dock of the grocery store when 58-year-old Sandra Cunha stepped into the truck's path.
Deputies said she fell and was run over by the semi's tandem tires.
Officials pronounced Cunha dead at the scene.
Pichardo was not injured and remained at the scene.
Traffic Homicide Investigation Unit detectives don't believe impairment, excessive speed or mechanical malfunction were contributing factors in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
