Local, state and national leaders are in Orlando this Monday for the 2017 Florida Human Trafficking Summit.
The event is hosted by Attorney General Pam Bondi, the Statewide Council on Human Trafficking, the Florida Departments of Juvenile Justice and Children and Families, and the University of Central Florida.
The one-day Summit will bring together over 500 attendees, according to an official press release, from areas covering:
- Law enforcement
- Service providers
- Survivors
- Healthcare professionals
- Educators
- Legislators
- Community leaders
Throughout the day, attendees will participate in targeted breakout sessions, workshops and training opportunities.
According to the release, "Opportunities for collaboration created at the Human Trafficking Summit will allow Florida to continue working to protect victims, prevent trafficking and prosecute traffickers." The goal is to prevent the labor and sex exploitation of children and adults.
The summit is being held at the Rosen Centre Hotel on International Drive.
