Update: Elderly Man Surrenders After Holding Two Nurses Hostage in Pompano

Two nurses held hostage in a Pompano Beach condo are freed and unharmed after Broward Sheriff's Office deputies and SWAT team took the 87-year-old man they say was behind the incident into custody.

BSO says the elderly man, who may suffer from Alzheimers held two nurses hostage overnight Sunday.  The man released one nurse Monday morning and the other later in the day.

There's a tense scene this Monday morning in one Broward building.  

Broward Sheriff's hostage negotiators and SWAT team members were able to talk down an elderly man barricaded inside the Pompano Beach condo. 

 The 87-year-old, who may suffer from  Alzheimer's, held two nurses hostage overnight. One of the nurses has been released while the man is still holding the other one inside the complex at 711 N. Riverside Drive.

SWAT is trying to negotiate with him without anyone getting hurt.

Officials say both nurses are okay, but have not released any additional information.
