SoFlo Colleges Offering Support To Students Affected By Hurricanes In PR

Two South Florida colleges are providing support for college students in Puerto Rico that have been displaced by Hurricanes Maria and Irma.

Miami-Dade College announced Tuesday that is will offer in-state tuition to affected students in Puerto Rico. The school said other services for displaced students will be announced soon.

St. Thomas University in Miami is also offering a lending hand. 

The university said Tuesday that it will provide free room and board through Spring 2018 for up to 100 college students in Puerto Rico and other Caribbean islands impacted by Hurricanes Irma and Maria.

Students will receive the free room and board on a first-come, first-serve basis upon continuing their studies at STU. 

The school will also include a free meal plan for the first 100 students enrolled in the program.
