Teens Arrested Following Serial Armed Robbery Spree In Hollywood

Four juveniles are in police custody after going on a 20-minute armed robbery spree in Hollywood at three separate locations. 

Officers chased and eventually caught up to the suspects on North State Road 7 early Saturday. 

Three identified 16-year-olds from Miami, and another from Pompano Beach, also 16, were arrested on various charges including: 

  • Armed robbery 
  • Stealing a car
  • Reckless driving 
  • Trespassing
  • Resisting an officer
  • Driving without a license 
  • Possession of marijuana

Police report the vehicle used was stolen in a carjacking out of Miami Friday evening.

Allegedly, the teens drove the 2009 white Volkswagen from Miami-Dade County to Hollywood. Police received the first report of an armed robbery in the 2000 block of North 58th Avenue at 11:30 p.m.

Next, at the intersection of North Hills Drive and North 46th Avenue, the suspects drove up to a man walking home, punched him and searched his pockets, according to police.

Police spotted the suspects' car, described by victims, and tried to stop it on the 200 block of North State Road 7, but the car accelerated and went through multiple red lights. 

Police say It turned east onto Hollywood Boulevard where it crashed into cars stopped at a red traffic light at the intersection of Interstate 95.

One of the car’s occupants got out and tried to hide behind a pillar underneath I-95 as the car took off. According to authorities, he was apprehended.

The car continued accelerating east on Hollywood Boulevard until it crashed into police patrol vehicles at a stop sign at at North 20th Avenue. Then, the other three were arrested, police said.
