A high-speed-rail route that would allow travel between Orlando and Miami in 26 minutes (!!!), is a step closer to reality.
Hyperloop One, first introduced by billionaire Elon Musk four years ago, put the Central Florida-to-South Florida route on a list of possible route finalists in the United States, that could eventually have the service.
Out of 26,000 submissions, officials announced the ten winning plans for the project Thursday, and the 357 mile route between Orlando and Miami is among them.
Each city selected for the short list to get the service, will now get funding to help develop feasibility studies in their regions.
Hyperloop plans to test the 750 mile-an-hour electric train this year, with passengers ready to travel on it by 2021.
