School's Out In Miami-Dade, Broward While Storm Damage Assessment Continues

When it comes to school, both Broward and Miami-Dade public schools are closed Tuesday... and, still, until further notice.

As of now, there is no definite reopening date for either county.

Miami-Dade schools Superintendent Alberto Carvalho announced Tuesday morning that most public schools are still without power. But according to ongoing damage assessments of area schools, "...results indicate minor to moderate damage but no catastrophic impact at any site."

In order to set a date as for when Miami-Dade County schools will reopen, Carvalho says FPL will have to provide information on power restoration.

In Broward County, Superintendent Robert Runcie is targeting the "latter part of the week to re-open," according to a Monday evening tweet by Broward Schools.

An earlier tweet also indicated that all county schools and school offices would be closed through at least Wednesday.

Gulliver Schools has canceled the rest of this week.

The plan there is to resume normal operations on Monday.
