MDX: Expressway Cleaning Underway, Roads Open To Traffic

The Miami-Dade Expressway Authority (MDX) is currently clearing debris from the roadways and assessing the condition of its five expressways.

Hurricane debris has been cleared from:

  • The Dolphin Expressway
  • The Airport Expressway
  • The Gratigny Expressway

MDX crews and contractors are still clearing hurricane debris from:

  • the Don Shula Expressway
  • the Snapper Creek Expressway (Kendall)

However, both of the above are currently open to traffic.

MDX's five expressways are crucial to emergency responders and to crews trying to restore our utility network.

According to authorities, the expressway system is the safest mode to bypass downed power lines, flooded streets, hurricane debris, and non-functioning signalized intersections.

Authorities reminds residents to stay off the streets unless absolutely necessary.

Power outages have impacted lighting on our expressways, so if you do need to drive on any expressway after sunset, please drive slowly and cautiously for the safety of our work crews and our emergency responders.
