'Tebow Effect' Helps St. Lucie Mets Shatter Attendance Records

Thanks to the Tim Tebow effect, the St. Lucie Mets are beginning to wrap up a record-breaking Florida State League season.

Although the team's season has not been rewarding on the scoreboard or their standings, the Mets have won big in putting fans in the stands.

Attendance has sky-rocketed to more than 122,000, shattering their old record of 105,000 set in 2011.

That's with five games left to play, including a Tebow bobblehead giveaway on Friday night.

The former Florida Gators star quarterback and 2007 Heisman Trophy winner was promoted to St. Lucie from the Low A Columbia Fireflies.

From there, the Mets prepared for the Tebow effect.
