Florida Sending Resources To Aid In Harvey Destruction

Governor Rick Scott is deploying state resources to hurricane-ravaged Texas.

Those resources include 25 Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers and 17 vehicles designed for use in high water and other vessels.

The governor says FWC officials have been closely monitoring the storm from Pensacola and have been in close contact with officials in Texas to determine what assistance they need.

In Central Florida, mayors Buddy Dyer of Orlando and Teresa Jacobs of Orange County say that local firefighters are heading to the Houston area along with Red Cross volunteers who will be handing out food.

Duke Energy is also sending 100 workers to help restore power.
