Miami-Dade Commissioners are coming back to work early today to talk about the crisis in Venezuela.
Commissioner Jose "Pepe" Diaz has called for a special meeting this afternoon at 1:00 p.m. to condemn the recent elections in the South American country.
He says, "Voters in this fraudulent election were only allowed to choose from among candidates selected by the Nicolas Maduro regime. That's authoritarianism, not democracy."
He wants the Trump Administration to give Temporary Protected Status to Venezuelans in the United States.
Diaz also is pushing his colleagues and county mayor to sign a letter addressed to President Donald Trump condemning the election and is urging the administration to put even more sanctions on the regime.
