Police Warn Of Email Scam Claiming Victims In South Florida

Fort Myers police are warning of a scam email being sent to South Floridians.

The email comes from the address id43660@online.net with a message that states:

Important message from Wells Fargo:

Account temporary locked.

Call us at (855) 8O8-4781. Thank you!

If a person responds to the email or calls the number, they are asked for bank account and Social Security numbers.

Citizens should note that the word "temporary" is used instead of "temporarily" and the letter "O" instead of a zero in the phone number.

Individuals should take note of the discrepancies to avoid falling victim to a scam.
