Former Miami Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez would have celebrated his 25th birthday Monday.
In honor of her late son, Fernandez’s mother decided to visit the crash site.
Maritza Fernandez visited the Miami Beach jetty, where the fatal 2016 boat collision took place. She was seen wearing a hat with Fernandez’s number “16” while tossing flowers into the ocean.
Maritza also placed candles along the jetty, right next a message written on the jetty rocks for her late son.
