Florida Man To Face Charges In Deadly, Truck-Smuggling Tragedy

A Florida man will be charged in federal court Monday following the deaths of 10 people whose "very hot" bodies were found in a sweltering tractor-trailer in a Texas parking lot.

Authorities were called to the San Antonio Walmart parking lot late Saturday or early Sunday and found eight people dead inside the truck.  Nearly 20 others who were still alive but in dire condition were taken from the scene and hospitalized, many with extreme dehydration and heatstroke.

Two more victims died at hospitals, bringing the death toll to 10, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials.

A total of 39 people had been inside the tractor-trailer, including at least four teenagers, Fox 29 reported. Some of them included Guatemalans and Mexican nationals.

The National Weather Service said the temperature in San Antonio hit 101 degrees just before 5 p.m. Saturday and didn't dip below 90 degrees until after 10 p.m.

Bradley will face a federal judge in San Antonio Monday.

This marks the latest smuggling-by-truck operation to end in tragedy.
