K9 unit handlers in the Volusia County Sheriff's Office are now carrying enough Narcan for their canine companions.
Narcan is a drug that is typically used to reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.
After three police dogs in Broward County overdosed during a drug raid, Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood decided to have Narcan available for K9s and deputies in case either of them are accidentally exposed.
