Man Arrested After Calling 911 Nearly 100 Times In One Day

A Florida has been arrested for calling 911 in search of drug money nearly 100 times in one day, police say.

Clearwater police said in a Facebook post that 23-year-old Michael Mott called the department's communication center 98 times in under six hours Monday.

They say Mott was trying to get money that was seized during a drug arrest in January.

The money Mott was referring to had to do with a January drug arrest where police say he sold drugs to officers. During the series of calls, he went so far as to call the chief's office, berating the person who picked up. Police were eventually able to locate and arrest him.

Authorities say Mott tied up valuable resources that were meant to help citizens in need.

Mott was charged with making harassing telephone calls. He was brought to the Pinellas County Jail around 6 p.m. Monday with a $5,000 bond.

It's unclear if he has a lawyer.
