LOOK: Sand Sculpture Mocks NJ Governor Following State Beach Shutdown

Following a government shutdown that closed the state beaches and parks of New Jersey much of the Fourth of July weekend, A giant sand sculpture of Gov. Chris Christie lounging in a chair has appeared on the Jersey Shore.

ICYMI, Gov. Christie was spotted at a state beach getting some sun with his family while the government shutdown was in effect over the weekend because of a budget impasse.

Christie defended his Jersey Shore appearance by saying that he did not get any sun because he was "wearing a hat."

The controversial sculpture became a focal point for beach-goers at New Jersey's Seaside Heights beach Tuesday morning. The sculpture was scrawled with the words, “Beach Closed,” “I Love New Jersey” and “July 4th.”

The sculpture was destroyed before nightfall on Tuesday, but dozens of beach-goers had already snapped pictures with the sandy Chris Christie.
