Wednesday morning, an explosion occurred at Florida's McKinley Climatic Lab on Eglin Air Force Base. Eglin is about 50 miles east of Pensacola.
A tweet from the base indicates the explosion happened around 10 a.m.
No injuries to any base employees have been reported as a result of this incident.
Officials say the smoke from the explosion is composed of methyl chloride and they're urging people avoid contact with it. Brief exposure to methyl chloride could have effects on the nervous system.
Okaloosa County Sheriff's deputies have evacuated the area, but says there is no health hazard to the general public.
As of around 1 p.m., a shelter in place order has been lifted at the base and Eglin Parkway has reopened, the base posted on Twitter.
